INTERPLEX EXPET Range of Performance APET SHEET
WHAT ARE APET SHEET ?
APET (Amorphous PET) Sheet are thermoplastic sheet which are produced by the extrusion processing of Polyethylene Terephthalate (APET) copolymer, a thermoplastic polyester. APET Sheet have sparkling clarity and gloss and very good mechanical properties and thermoforming characteristics, which make them the ideal material for packaging applications.
EXPET Range
EXPET is a range of high performance APET sheet manufactured by Interplex India. EXPET Sheet are manufactured on imported plant utilizing the company's long experience in the field of specialized extrusion. EXPET Sheet have extremely good thickness tolerance, very high uniformity and low crystallinity and excellent transparency. EXPET Sheet are made from Reliance RELPET resins.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF APET SHEET
APET Sheet have the following general characteristics
- Sparkling clarity and gloss which makes it visually appealing as a material for packaging and display applications
- Very good impact strength down to a temperature of 40 oC
- High flexural modulus. This lows the possibility of down gauging the packaging thickness while at the same time maintaining the required properties.
- High resistance to cracking
- Does not stress whiten when flexed or bent
- Can be easily thermoformed, and does not require to be dried
- Has higher thermal diffusivity as compared to PVC (faster absorption and dissipation of heat). This reduces the thermoforming cycle time as the time required to heat and cool the sheet is lower. This also requces the heating requirement and reduces energy costs
Other characteristics required for specific packaging applications are
- Safe for food and drug contact for food and medical packaging applications
- Can be sterilized by ETO and Gamma radiation for medical packaging
- Has good barrier properties for water vapour, Oxygen and CO2 for food packaging
- Neutral smell, and good aroma and flavour retention, for specialized food packaging
- Non toxic and environmentally friendly, since it is a pure and does not have halogens or harmful heavy metals, making it the ideal eco friendly disposable packaging material
APPLICATIONS OF EXPET SHEET
Major applications of APET Sheet are in the areas of thermoforming and packaging as follows
- Pharmaceutical and medical industries - tablets, medical disposables and medical devices for diagnostics and surgery
- Consumer goods - tooth brushes, shaving blades, battery cells
- Personal hygiene products - single use rigid pouches for hair oils, shampoos which currently use flexible packaging
- Processed foods - single portion packing of sauces, pickles, butter etc which are used in the catering industry
Thermoforming
- Fast foods and takeaway and beverage industry - salads, sandwiches, ice-cream parlor cups, desserts, bakery items, mithai, tea coffee and drinks cups
- Prepacked retail foods and confectionary - chocolate and biscuit trays, nuts, dried fruits, mithai boxes, ice-cream, butter and cream tubs and cups etc
- Farm Produce - boxes for strawberries and other berries, boxes and separators for packing of high value fruit and vegetables, herbs, egg cartons etc
- Point of purchase display packaging - electrical, electronic, tools, toys, stationary etc
- Technical packaging - packaging and tray handling of electronic items

- Apparel - boxes for shirts, ties, ladies hosiery
